- Saponaria or Soapwort: This herb can be used to make soap. It is perennial, low growing and had pretty pink flowers in early summer.
- Thyme – all varieties: This lovely plant has varieties that creep across the ground as well as the culinary version that can be used in cooking. It is easy to grow, low maintenance and can take a lot of abuse. It can even be walked on – so long as the path isn’t a heavily used one. It makes a fabulous lawn substitute.
- Achillea Millefolium or Yarrow – Perennial plant that can be used to prevent soil erosion. This cast iron plant needs no extra water to survive, somehow it manages in even the toughest drought conditions.
